History

Sri Bettadhamma Devi Temple is a historic shrine dedicated to the local deity Sri Bettadhamma Devi, who is traditionally revered as the sister of Sri Chandra Choodeswara Swami.

Sri Bettadhamma Devi Temple is 1200 years old constructed during Hoysala period.

Sri Bettadhamma Devi is a suyanmbu ambal, traditionally regarded as the Kula Deivam (ancestral deity) by sections of the Vokkaliga community. Her worship is deeply rooted in regional customs and age-old oral traditions passed down through generations. Devotees believe Sri Bettadhamma Devi to be a compassionate and protective guardian, and the temple continues to serve as an important center of faith, cultural heritage, and community devotion

The temple has been owned by 15 villages and it is a center of worship and community gatherings for many decades, serving as a spiritual hub for devotees in the region. Over the years, it has undergone several renovations to preserve its cultural and religious significance.
